Microsoft announce the date they will officially stop supporting the 2004 version of the Mac Office suite.
“In line with Microsoft’s standard Support Lifecycle policy, Office 2004 for Mac Mainstream Support will be retired October 13, 2009,” the company said in a statement given to Macworld. “The MacBU is continuing to work on updates for Office 2008 for Mac and is hard at work on the next version of Office for Mac.”
A great number of MAc-based businesses still use this version and have avoided upgrading to the newer 2008 version to date. One notable issue with the 2008 version is the removal of any Visual Basic ability. This makes the Mac version incompatible with any macro-based solution across Mac and Windows networks.
